Cyber Security and Personal Information Tips

What can you do to safeguard your personal information?  Customers are recommended to review the security instructions below to ensure the protection of your personal information and online transactions.

Dos

  1. Set a strong password with 8 or more alphanumeric, uppercase and lowercase characters.  Avoid using personal information which are easily    accessed as your password, such as your date of birth or phone number.
  2. Change your password on a regular basis and avoid reusing the same password.
  3. Monitor your online account closely by logging on to review your transaction history or trade related documents on a regular basisparticularly  after receiving any e-statement alert from us Beware of any suspicious or unauthorized transactions.
  4. Watch out for any unauthorized changes to your account details, such as telephone number, email address and login password.
  5. Ensure the accuracy of your registered information periodically. Please contact us immediately if there are any updates or changes.
  6. To protect your personal computer or mobile device, set up a passcode lock and activate the auto-lock function.
  7. nstall the latest versions of personal firewalls and reputable anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-malware programs. Ensure these are updated on a    regular basis. Keep all your operating systems, apps, software and browsers up-to-date.
  8. Disable any wireless network functions (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) not in use. When using Wi-Fi, choose only trusted networks, enable network security    protection and remove all unnecessary Wi-Fi connection settings.
  9. Type the website address (URL) manually or use a bookmark to directly browse our Internet Trading Website. Alternatively, please navigate to our corporate website (www.citics.com.hk) and then click the “Log In” button.
  10. Always consider privacy and data security when you download and install any software and apps into your computer and mobile devices.
  11. Please keep your mobile device with soft token installed in a safe and secure place.
  12. If your mobile device with soft token is lost, please call us immediately to deactivate the lost device.

Don'ts

  1. Do not disclose any of your personal account information, including but not limited to your username and password, to anyone.
  2. Do not respond to any unverified requests. We do not normally contact customers for their personal information or account passwords through  emails. Always check with us when in doubt.
  3. Do not store your account information and passwords in any computersmobile devices or write it on paper.
  4. Do not use the same password for multiple services.  For instance, one password for various email and bank accounts.
  5. Do not access your online account or the corporate website through any hyperlinks embedded in emails, internet search engines or suspicious pop-  up windows.
  6. Do not visit suspicious websites and open attachments in emails from unknown sources.
  7. Do not share your computers, mobile or other personal devices which have been used to access your online accounts with others.
  8. Do not leave your device unattended. Always log out properly after completing any online transactions.
  9. Do not install our mobile applications on any tampered devices, such as jail broken or rooted mobile device.
